Original scores for silent films and restorations

A public-domain film with a claimed soundtrack is the classic restoration-channel trap: the footage is free, but the score someone added is what triggers the copyright claim. Taksym scores are generated and owned by us, never registered in any content-identification system, and licensed to you with written proof.

Browse the cinematic and orchestral cues below, or have us score your specific film: for $249 we compose to your cut (era, mood, tempo, length) and deliver licensed candidates within days. Restoration and colorization channels are exactly who this catalog was tuned for; our own film channel runs on the same cues.

321 tracks ready to license today, each with a 30-second preview.

One-time fees, perpetual licenses, issued under the Taksym Standard Music License with a serial-numbered certificate. Files and certificate arrive by email within 24 hours.

Common questions

Why do my public-domain uploads get claimed?

Usually because of the music, not the film. Public-domain status clears the footage, but the score on the print (or one added by a previous restorer) often has active rightsholders, and content-identification systems match on audio.

Will a Taksym score get my video claimed?

Taksym tracks are not registered in Content ID and the license forbids anyone registering them, so there is no catalog entry to match against. If a false claim appears anyway, your license certificate is the written evidence for the dispute.

Can you score a specific film or scene?

Yes. Send the cut or the timings with the $249 commission and we compose to it: era-appropriate instrumentation, tempo matched to the action, delivered as licensed candidates within days.

Which tier for a monetized restoration channel?

Creator ($49 per track): it covers a named channel including monetization. Scoring a feature-length film with many cues? Email us for a bundle quote.
